Oil storage Tanks & Fitting.

There are a few reasons why you may need a new Oil Storage Tank, but the most common reason is that your current tank has, or is just about to, expire. If its a steel tank, you may have painted it every year and kept it clean and looking in generally good condition. The real problem, however, is what is happening on the inside. Steel tanks collect condensation over a period of time and this is what is finding its way through the steel. Water is heavier than oil so it goes to the bottom of the tank, every time you have 1000 litres delivered, you introduce another 1 tonne pressure on the water at the bottom of the tank which now tries to find its way through the steel. The chemical reaction between the steel and the water causes the steel to become porous and then the water can get out. Its not likely that you will notice the water making its exit, but, a year or so later, you wil notice an oily smell and see drips of your heating oil on the ground around your tank. Its now time to get a new tank as the drip will only get worse!

Can we repair your failing Steel Oil Tank? NO!

At Philter Ltd we can offer a range of Plastic Tanks to suit almost any site. We are able to offer Steel Tanks for those wishing a more traditional look or for sites where a plastic tank will not fit. All Bunded Plastic Tanks come with a ten years manufacturers guarantee and are made from the best UV stabilised materials available, (they're not as likely to crack and split as they were many years ago).

All oil storage tanks fitted today, whether they be a new installation or a replacement, need to conform to building regulations. Even if you replace like for like (i.e a 300 gallon steel for a 300 gallon steel) consideration for the environment and fire protection must be part of the site survey. An OFTEC registered company can deal with the full assessment and the reporting of the works to the local planning authority (via OFTEC).

At Philter Ltd, we are able to, in most cases, deal with your tank exchange in one visit. Where this is not possible, we can set up a temporary tank to supply your boiler with oil so there is no interruption to your hot water or heat source. We deal with the basework, transfer of fuel and also the

re-commissioning of your appliance if required.

Be assured that the person who visits for the initial site survey will also be involved with fitting the tank, this gives you a high level of customer care not often equalled by others.
